Overview
A double waterfall on the Benton MacKaye Trail with mountain laurel and rhododendron growing along the trail and creek bank. The hike to the falls is about 30 minutes round trip. Because of the incline, roots and rocks, this trail although short is rated moderate. TIPS Never climb on a waterfall. It is very slippery and dangerous. IMPORTANT! Please stay on the designated trail which has several switchbacks, taking shortcuts erodes the trail and changes the flow of water causing damage. To see the top of the falls, once you come down the steps turn left on the trail; follow sign for Benton MacKaye Trail it takes you right to the top. Please do not climb on waterfalls, see this information from the USFS. Climbing the bank alongside the trail causes damage to the bank and the trees and they will eventually fall across the waterfall. See our tips on Taking Care of Blue Ridge.
