Outdoors
Hiking, waterfalls, whitewater rafting, trout fishing, ziplining, there's something fun and exciting for outdoor enthusiasts of all ages.
There are over 100 miles of great trout fishing rivers, creeks and streams in the area, including Jack's River, Conasauga River, Toccoa River, Noontootla Creek and Cooper Creek.
First, rent a cabin on the Toccoa River, either above or below the Lake Blue Ridge Dam; on Fightingtown Creek or another fishing stream in the area; or on Lake Blue Ridge for lake fishing. You can find lots of them on the Where to Stay section of this site.
Second, check out our Trout Fishing page and download the self-guided tour river access maps, which show access points and boat ramps in the area.
Third - make it easy on yourself and hire a local fishing guide! For trout or lake fishing there are a number of qualified guides to help you locate and catch fish (check out the directory at the bottom of this page)! If you don't hire a guide you will need a fishing license with a trout stamp for trout fishing. It would be a good idea to check TVA's website for information about times for water releases if you're fishing the Toccoa below the dam.
